Sand dunes are a geological phenomenon – tiny bits of ground up rock that have been blown into a heap. In some places in the United States that heap reaches 750 feet tall. From one simple grain to many millions, natural forces prevail in the dance of each small bit of sand shoving and pushing another one into place, pausing only to start the dance again. I find that the dunes are a place where my imagination can play in the shapes that the winds sculpt and re-sculpt. Sometimes people are integral to my fantasy and at other times I am more comfortable in their absence.
