I have been taking photos most of my life, but about 10 years ago my interest became a passion. My main focus has been on landscapes of the West. In the last few years my emphasis has been on infrared and black and white fine art photography to show what I consider the essence of the scene.
I am passionate about my photography and passionate about the American West, especially New Mexico. I feel a spiritual dimension in my work and believe we begin to understand our own place in the universe through connection with our environment. I try to continually evolve in my photography by slowing down and taking the time to really contemplate the large and small details of the world in which we all live. Using a camera to poke a way in, I like to share what I find. The world is astounding, and we should all stand as its guardians, but unless we have a relationship with its beauty and diversity and even sometimes its ugliness, it is easy to ignore its fragility and neglect our obligations as custodians. I hope that some of my photographs help foster that relationship.
In the last few years my photographs were shown in numerous exhibitions, both in New Mexico and Arizona. They included numerous times in Shades of Gray (an ANMPAS show), the New Mexico State Fair, Placita Artists Series, and six-years in the Placitas (Artists) Studio Tour. In 2018 I had a solo exhibition of 36 images at the Loma Colorado Library in Rio Rancho, which was widely praised.
I have been an art museum docent for more than twenty years studying the masters of the art world, which has profoundly influenced my photography.. I work out of my own studio in Placitas, New Mexico and share my life with my geologist husband and one Border Collie. Here you see Tuffy, my former able assistant.
