Spruce Tree House, Mesa Verde National Park, CO 

I took this from the balcony of a stone building overlooking the ruin.  I waited until the groups of people examining what was left of the ancient village had moved from the camera’s view. I wanted to capture some essence of the community who lived here some 800 years ago. As I continue to look at the photo, I marvel at the skill these people had in building in a difficult place and building around large rocks and drop-offs.
