White House Ruin, Canyon de Chelly National Monument, Arizona
Canyon de Chelly is a magical place with the spirits of ancient people seen in the pictographs and ruins such as this one. I am continually in awe of the dramatic rock fractures and black desert varnish streaking down the cliffs, which adds to the mystery and timelessness of the canyons. It is the home of the Diné and the site of the preserved ruins of the Ancient Pueblo People or Anasazi. It is one of the longest continuously inhabited places in North America.
