Volcanic Neck, Near San Ysidro, NM (Infrared)

I love the rock formations found in the Southwest, so Cabezon has always been special to me. This volcanic plug is visible from most of Placitas, but is accessible only by an hour’s drive into the desert wilderness. One Navajo myth claims it is the head of a giant killed by gods. But its incredible natural beauty and curiosity is hard to equal anywhere.
